About Variant Investments

Variant is a $3+ billion private credit asset manager focusing on niche asset-based lending transactions. Investment activity has a global reach and is centered in the fast-growing lender finance market. Variant manages three alternative income funds (interval and tender offer), one of which has a dedicated impact mandate. Senior Operations Associate

Responsibilities

  1. Participate in daily Net Asset Value (NAV) valuation process (15%).
  2. Work directly with Chief Compliance Officer and Director of Operations to facilitate execution of compliance responsibilities (email review, collecting brokerage statements and quarterly reports) (5%).
  3. Work with Director of Operations and fund administrator in fund’s quarterly, semi-annual, and annual SEC filings, financial reporting, and audit (10%).
  4. Assist in trade process for liquid securities and capital calls/distributions for illiquid partnerships (3%).
  5. Contribute to various team projects to further strengthen fund operations (3%).
  6. Serve as operational point person for underlying direct credit facilities (10%).
  7. Train new operations associates (10%).
  8. Lead onboarding process for new investments to provide reporting by the Ops department for various reconciliations (12%).
  9. Provide integral support to the Firm’s Compliance program (12%).
  10. Lead 206(4)-7 annual compliance review (2%).
  11. Be an assisting member of the Firm’s Valuation Committee (5%).
  12. Serve as the backup for the Director of Operations (7%).
  13. Assist Director of Operations in managing operation process across various funds (6%).

Education

Master’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a closely related field (foreign equivalent accepted).

Experience

3 years’ post-bachelor’s experience as an Operations Associate, Private Equity Intern, Operations Officer, Project Financial Controller, Fund Accounting Specialist, or similar position.

Job Requirements

  • 3 years’ experience working with interval funds
  • 3 years’ experience working with fund operations
  • 3 years’ experience working with Salesforce, including vendor management, and interfacing with valuation systems
  • 2 years’ experience working with Power BI and internal valuation software systems
  • 2 years’ experience with ASC820 under Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • 2 years’ experience with 40 Act Advisor Compliance Rules and Regulations

Employment will be contingent upon passing a reference check and background check.

All experience, skills and requirements may be gained concurrently.

In-office work required Tuesdays, Thursdays.  May telecommute from home within the Portland, Oregon metropolitan area Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays.
